As I look about the area now I see we have just two thatched cottages left. It brings to mind the song “My Fathers House” written by midland’s musician and songwriter, Kevin Sheerin. The opening lines describing well the present condition of the majority of all the former thatched houses in the area.

“The gable wall is all that’s left now, The old thatched cottage, is falling down. I dry my eyes, as I fondly remember, days of long ago, when I was young”
