Fr. Denis Carney was ordained in 1983. He is son of John and Maura Carney of Castlebar. In October of that year he was assigned as CC to Clare Island to replace Fr. Pat O’Brien who was moving from there to Skehana. In July of 1987 he was appointed as provisional PP to Menlough to replace the late Fr O’Malley PP who had passed away. In November 1987 he was appointed as Taugheen replacing Fr Arthur Devine who was appointed PP of Menlough. In July 1996 he was appointed CC in Claremorris. In 1997 he was appointed CC to Westport. By 2002 he was Adm to Westport.
