Killoscobe Parish Baptismal and Marriage Records – 1800s to early 1900s.

Civil, or State birth, marriage and death, registrations officially commenced for the island of Ireland on January 1st 1864. Prior to that, and afterwards also, Catholic parishes recorded baptism and marriage records. Many of the early records have survived but sadly also many have not. Such records can be of great assistance for individuals who are tracing their family history.

Skehana records for the most part are contained in the Killoscobe Catholic parish records though for some brief periods, during the 1800s, they may be found in Moylough Catholic parish records when Skehana Church was attached to that parish. The surviving original records are available online but we have transferred these onto a spreadsheet drawn from a typed version completed in the 1980s. They are hopefully more legible though you will appreciate that such transfers of data often result in some typo errors. In addition while some may appear as typo errors they may not be so, as that is the way they were written in the original documents.

Please note that names such a O’Neill may appear as Neill or Neal and some surnames that normally begin with C may be under K and vice versa and many other examples also exist. View or download below.
