Fr. Malachy Stephens 1953 – 1954:

Fr Stephens was a native of Coarsefield, Mayo-Abbey, son of Thomas and Nora Stephens and was ordained in 1938 and came to Skehana from Dunmore where he ministered from 1947 to 1953. Before that he spent eight years on the Missions in Australia. His father passed away in May of 1954. He also ministered in Ballindine from 1954 to 1955 and in Ballyconneely from 1955 to 1961 and in Roundfort/Hollymount from 1961 to 1970. Fr Stephens later became CC of Clonberne in 1970 where he ministered until his death on July 2nd. 1971 aged 59 years. He is laid to rest in the grounds of Clonberne Church.
