Fr Tom Macken was a native of Kilmaine and born in 1861. In 1891 he was CC in Leenane. He was 36 when he came to Skehana in 1897 where he ministered for two years. In 1904 Fr Macken was Vice-President of St Jarlath’s College, Tuam. In 1909 he was Adm. of the Parish of Tuam. In 1910 he was appointed PP of Dunmore and in 1920 he was appointed Dean. He was also appointed VG of the Tuam Diocese in 1921. In that same year he was appointed by the Pope to be a Domestic Prelate. In 1922 he was appointed PP of Claremorris. Following an operation in Dublin he passed away on February 17th. 1930 at the age of 69.
