Maidie is a regular ‘go to’ person in the Menlough area when you need resources or information on anything local. She has a wonderful memory and has given so much valuable information to The Skehana & District Heritage Group over the years.

Maidie, now in her 90s, is interviewed about her memories of giving birth, both at home and in hospital, the local midwives of the locality including Ma Kilcommins, Mountbellew, Ms. Flemming, Menlough and Mrs. O’Reilly, Caltra. Contained here are connections, wonderful stories and a view from a beneficiary of the skills deployed and support received from these community midwives.
