John Mannion Interview

John Mannion, Cappalusk.

John Mannion from Cappalusk, Gurteen, recalls his own vivid memories of Walsh’s Forge in Gurteen as he shares these with interviewer Sally-Ann Barrett. John was a mine of information on all things heritage, history and much more than that. To end the conversation John recites a beautiful poem that he and John Molloy penned to the memory of the Walsh family and their forge.

We are sad to report that John passed away on January 4th, 2023, shortly after this recording. On that day a library was closed but we are pleased to have been able to add a small part of John’s contribution to the archives. Click below to access the interview:
