Virtually all of our census records have either been lost or destroyed for the 19th century. The first really complete census that we have at our disposal is the 1901 census. Many researchers use Griffiths Valuation of Tenements, dating from the 1850s, in what has become known as a ‘census substitute’. Basically this lists the head of each property occupier in addition to other relevant information. The entire island of Ireland is included and sorted by townland.
The general Skehanagh area is in the Civil Parish of Moylough for this purpose. This is not to be confused with the Catholic Parish. Following are the 29 relevant pages covering the entire Moylough Civil Parish. Hope you find it useful and if you require any additional information please contact us.
